The argument this page exists for

Someone in the group chat says they type fast. Someone else disagrees. Everyone quotes a number from a typing test they took at different times under different conditions, which settles nothing, because two people typing different text on different days are not comparable.

A private challenge link removes every excuse: same passage, same moment, both of you watching the other move. Somebody is faster and in about a minute you will both know who.

How it works

Send it to whoever you are racing. It goes straight to that duel: no queue, no strangers, no waiting for matchmaking.
Both ready up and the countdown fires for both of you simultaneously.
Race, and the faster, more accurate typist wins. On a staked duel that is 90% of the pot, in the winner's balance immediately.

What needs an account, and what doesn't

Ordinary free-tier play needs nothing at all. You can land on the site, start an anonymous guest session and be racing a matched opponent within seconds, without ever creating an account.

Private challenges are the exception, because choosing your opponent means both people need to be someone the system can address. Creating a challenge and accepting one both require an account today. Signing up takes an email or a Google account and gives you a wallet automatically: no seed phrase, no extension.

If you just want to race strangers for free, skip the account entirely. The account is for choosing who you race, and for anything with money on it.

Free duels and staked duels

A free challenge is exactly the same race with nothing on it: unrated, no pot, no rake, just the result and the bragging rights. A staked challenge puts both antes into a pot, takes a flat 10% rake and pays the winner the rest: two $5 stakes make a $10 pot and $9 to the winner. The rematch

One race settles almost nothing and everyone knows it: the loser wants another immediately. You can go again straight away at the same stake, which is how most of these actually end up: a run of five where the pattern becomes obvious somewhere around the third.

Your friend can't cheat either

The same server-side validation applies to private duels as to matchmade ones. Every keystroke is checked on the server against the expected character, so a macro, an auto-typer or a browser script has nothing to talk to: the client renders the race, it does not report the result. Inter-key timing below human limits is rejected outright. Whoever wins your rematch, they typed it.
