Stakes and fees

TypeBag is a 1v1 typing race for money: two players type the same 30–60 second passage, and the faster, more accurate typist takes 90% of the pot. It is free to try with no account, or staked at $1–$10 in USDC on Solana.

The tiers

Both players in a duel put up the same amount. The pot is the two stakes combined, TypeBag takes 10% of it, and the winner takes the remainder:

• Free ($0): no pot, no rake, no rating movement. Unrated and open to everyone.
• $1: $2 pot, $0.20 rake, winner takes $1.80
• $3: $6 pot, $0.60 rake, winner takes $5.40
• $5: $10 pot, $1 rake, winner takes $9
• $10: $20 pot, $2 rake, winner takes $18

All amounts are USDC. Internally every balance is held as an integer number of micro-USDC, a millionth of a dollar, so no rounding error can accumulate anywhere in the system.

Why the free tier is unrated

The free tier is not a demo of the paid game; it is a deliberately different game. It is open matchmaking, so any skill level can meet any other, and nothing that happens there touches your rating, your MMR or the rated leaderboards.

That is on purpose. A rated free tier would be farmed: people would grind an inflated rating at zero cost and carry it into paid tiers, which makes the paid brackets worse for everyone in them. Keeping free play unrated means it can stay genuinely casual: no stakes, no account needed, nothing to protect.

Why paid tiers are rated separately

Each paid tier carries its own Glicko-2 rating, and there is a global MMR alongside them. Your $1 rating and your $10 rating are separate numbers that move independently.

People do not play the same at every stake. Plenty of typists are relaxed and quick for a dollar and tighten up at ten, and per-tier ratings let matchmaking reflect that instead of averaging it away. It also means moving up a tier does not drag a rating with you that was earned under different pressure; you establish a new one where you are actually playing.

The rake, and what it is not

10% of the pot, taken at settlement. That is the entire business model and the only fee TypeBag charges. There is no deposit fee, no withdrawal fee beyond Solana network gas, no subscription, no charge for an idle balance, and no fee at all when you lose; losing already costs you the stake.

The rake is also not a house edge on the outcome. TypeBag takes the same 10% regardless of which player wins, which means the platform has no position on who does. There is nothing to tilt.

Why there is no $25 or $50 tier

Because a stake tier only works if there is someone else standing in it. Higher tiers are gated until the player base can fill them: a $50 queue that never matches is worse than no $50 queue at all, and it would push players toward waiting instead of playing. They open when the liquidity justifies them, not before.

When you get paid

The instant the race ends. Winnings land in your balance with no clearing window, no pending period and no minimum before you can withdraw. Deposits and withdrawals settle on Solana in USDC, and withdrawals typically confirm in under a minute; details on the Solana side of things.
