About TypeBag
TypeBag is a 1v1 typing race for money: two players type the same 30–60 second passage, and the faster, more accurate typist takes 90% of the pot. It is free to try with no account, or staked at $1–$10 in USDC on Solana.
What we built
Competitive typing has existed online for two decades and has always been played for nothing. TypeBag is the version where the race is worth something: identical passage, both players racing it live, faster and more accurate typist takes the pot. Roughly 30 to 60 seconds per duel.
Real-money play went live in May 2026 on Solana mainnet. Before that the platform ran a closed pre-launch period with reserved handles and an early-access list.
How we make money
A flat 10% rake on the pot of each paid duel. That is the whole model. No subscription, no deposit fee, no charge for holding a balance, no selling of player data, and no fee on free-tier play, which has no pot to take a rake from. Because the rake is the same whoever wins, TypeBag has no position on the outcome of any duel.
How duels are kept honest
The server runs the race. Every keystroke is validated server-side against the expected character, and the browser is a viewport rather than a referee, so there is nothing on the client worth tampering with. On top of that, inter-key timing below human physical limits is rejected, sustained and burst speeds above the range of the fastest recorded human typists are flagged, runs far outside a player's own history are flagged, and device fingerprinting catches one person running several accounts against themselves. Flagged duels hold the payout for human review rather than triggering an automatic ban.
How the money is handled
Deposits and withdrawals are on-chain USDC on Solana; balances and duel settlement are held in an off-chain ledger, so a duel resolves instantly rather than waiting on a block. Every balance change happens inside a database transaction and is written to an audit log. A reconciliation job runs daily and compares the entire expected ledger against the actual on-chain balance; drift beyond tolerance raises an alert for a human to act on.
Platform signing keys are held in hardware security modules through a third-party signer and never exist as plain values in our infrastructure. Withdrawals above a threshold require manual approval, and larger ones require two separate approvals.
Where it works, and where it doesn't
